Uber-update
Where the heck have I been? Oh, times, they have been busy.
Seussical has come and gone, and with it the throngs of people who cheered, chanted, and shouted my name.
Both of them.
It was a good show, but I am glad that it is over. As soon as I finished with the Sunday Matinee I had to get home to pack. Another adventure awaited me.
Republic Bank Training in Lansing
You're thinking big deal. How about this...PAID TRAINING! Has a bit different ring to it, does it not? The bank put me up for a week at the Courtyard Marriott, paid for my meals, and mileage to and back.
This bank is really paying off. It's a shame that more people don't utilise our sweet services. Loans, services, benefits too numerous to mention.
At training I learned the fine art of creating and opening accounts. Different IRA's, and well as possible benefits our products can offer to those interested.
It was a good time, Milks visited. I had Damon's for lunch almost every day, which may explain my sleepiness during the second half of classes. On Thursday a small group of us took a short lunch so I could go through how to open accounts. It was really quite fun. I enjoyed the whole process, and look forward to seeing if I passed the class. In addition to taking the class, to get credit you need to achieve an 85% or better on the skills test they present Friday afternoon. I think I did well.
To celebrate the end of the week, I treated myself to Holiday Lanes in East Lansing. I needed to wait for Milks to make her way up, as she had walkie talkies and we communicate through them on the way up. I bowled four games (142, 143, 92, 107) before she actually made it up. There was an accident on the way up and she was in traffic for about 2 hours or so. She was really uncomfortable when she got into the alley, so I bowled one more game while she settled down. I was playing those 50 cent pull tab lotto tickets, and I had won $1.50 after playing four dollars. Milks went to the bathroom and gave me $5.00 to get her something cold to drink. I got her a blue slush (it tasted like hot dog water!) and took one dollar and bought two more pull tabs. She came back and I told her she needed to win big, because that was all I was going to buy. She sipped the blue hot dog water and pulled the first. Nothing. But as she uncovered the lines in the second ticket...paydirt.
$25.00
Looks like dinner is going to be free!
And it was. We went to Damon's for dinner. She got a nice little steak, potato, and salad w/iced tea. I got the app. chicken fingers buffalo style w/water. The total was $12.00. Damon's has some promo where if you call an 800 number and give them information off of your reciept, you recieve $5.00 off your next visit. It ruled!
After dinner, off to mom and Rich's for the weekend. A good time. Korinne took her car into town to have it looked at, and they put a new belt on the car to bypass the A/C clutch. They came back, we had breakfast together, and then Rich and I went golfing.
Golf was great, minus the 95+ weather. A beautiful public course, 9 holes witha cart for $15 on the weekend? Try and find that around here!
We went off the back nine, and by the end of the 12th hole, the ranger caught up to us. For those of you who do not know, the Ranger speeds up your play, or kicks you off the course. We got kicked off the back nine. The girl in the clubhouse told us to go off the back nine, but she threw us smack dab in the middle of an outing. So the ranger just told us to move to the front and have those first three for free. It was nice.
I took out my driver. I never use my driver, but I tried it on Saturday, and I hit rather well. It's not one of those monster drivers that you need a wheeled cart to pull around, just a little tiny one. But I can hit the ball 200 yards with that sucker. Rich beat me 50-55, but it was well worth it, even if I didn't win.
As we were driving back to moms I pulled apart his interior passenger window to try and fix it, and it's still the way I left it. I'll have to fix it soon. We got the girls Taco Bell, even after we called and asked them but they didn't answer. We got home, and there they were with Taco Bell. It was crazy, all those taco's and not a Mexican in sight.
Sunday we went to the little COG on the hill, and it is always fun to go there. The service was short and sweet, and then Korinne treated us to lunch at a small diner. We returned at about 2:00 in the afternoon, and I checked to see when auditions were for Monky Business, and they started at 2:00 in Toledo. So I took a nap. Then we started the drive back, with a detour through Adrian to get my script for Fiddler on the Roof. We must have hit the Mid-Michigan Monsoon season in full swing. For about 1 hour it was nothing but an onslaught of H2 oh no you didn't! But we made it, I got my script, and then we went back to Toledo and had dinner with Milks parents. Overall, a really nice time full of fun and excitement.
Yesterday was pretty busy. First day back at the bank in a week, so I titled and sent out some letters about our 3.50% APY on a savings account, then checked up on the online community. Everyone seems to be doing well, from those who spackle the holes in the walls...to those who crush deilcate birds enjoying the summer day...to those who are tormented by their daily life so much that they imagine even more horror when the sleep...to those who actually travelled with me, and I'm glad that you're all doing well. After the bank I had an audition for another musical, Monky Business, which the Village players will be putting on in September. I was there early, and only did the reading. The music woman wasn't there, so I just read and that was it. Then I was off to Fiddler, which may from now on be called Thirty Sweaty People in a Small Cramped Room. It was hot, and all we learned was Tradition. I was a bit disappointed. Anyways, got home, took Milks to Meijer, bought nothing, end of story.
Except that when I got home there was a message.
I'm already cast in Monky Business. I play the mute character.
Sounds like this may be my biggest acting challenge yet!
